If there’s one red lights flashing on your Xbox 360 in an error message of E74 showing up on your television screen, you’ve got a pretty big mess ahead of you to fix up. If your Xbox 360 is still under warranty, your best bet is to let Microsoft fix it for you, error E74 is a son of a gun.

It’s been said that all Xbox 360 errors originate from overheating, so the best thing you can do is just use a lot of preventive maintenance tricks, maybe install an extra cooling fan, system attachment of some sort. Whenever the case may be for error you get, you’re going to want to fix it as fast as possible before more damage happens.

Error code E74 happens to be the worst of all error codes, if you can repair the problem with the X-clamp trick or penny trick which indicates you apply pressure to the processor chips inside your console GPU and CPU, if that doesn’t work then the only conclusion you can come up with next is it might be the Hana chip or scalar chip, as either burned out from excess of playing. How to Remove Scratches on Xbox 360 Games

Has your Xbox 360 scratched up any of your games? In fact the Xbox 360 console is known for this irritating fact, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t.

It’s happened so much to so many different people around the world, that Xbox 360 (Microsoft) actually spoke up, stating they would replace any video game their console (Xbox 360) destroys.

Maybe you don’t want to wait 3 weeks for your games or favorite game to come back, maybe it’s just a tiny scratch just bad enough so it won’t play right, whatever the case might be, you can learn how to easily fix the problems (scratches) right now…Are you ready?

Stuff you’ll need:

1. Roll of paper towels
2. New tube of Colgate toothpaste
3. Peanut butter
4. Can of diet coke or celsur water
5. Baking soda
6. Rubber canister (Tupperware)

The first thing your going to want to do is squeeze some toothpaste onto a piece of paper towel, then gently rub it onto your scratched CD, lather it on nice and smoothly so the CD is completely covered.

Then put some peanut butter onto a piece of paper towel and lather that on top of the toothpaste on the scratched CD so that it’s completely covered the entire game, mixing the two together.

Easily buff the scratches out with a new piece of paper towel, you’ll notice it working right away, just be careful not to rub too hard. Once you’ve removed all the toothpaste and peanut butter, reapply again, adding more toothpaste and peanut butter to buff out the deeper scratches.

Now grab your rubber container (Tupperware) and place your CD covered in peanut butter and toothpaste into the Rubber canister pouring your can of diet coke or celsur water on top of it, just enough so that the liquid is the least 1 inches above the CD in the canister.

Next, sprinkle a handful of baking soda on top then place the cover on the Rubber Container and shake it up a little bit, let it sit for a good 5 to 10 minutes.

After the waiting time is over go ahead and pull your CD back out, and start rubbing off the toothpaste in peanut butter, you’ll notice it’ll be a little more difficult to remove the toothpaste because it got wet, but you’ll see a world of difference when there’s no scratches on your game.

Believe it or not this trick works and has worked for quite a few years now, make sure to always use the right type of toothpaste, if you use toothpaste that has beads or any other type of the material in it, other than just toothpaste, you’ll end up scratching your games more..

How to Fix the Xbox 360 Unplayable Disc Error

First things first, there’s no way around it, you have to open up your Xbox 360 meaning take it apart, if you’re not aware of Microsoft warranty policy, you automatically void your warranty if you open your console up, there’s a seal and the only way to open your console is by breaking it.

If you’re aware of this that’s fine if not in your still covered under the warranty why not just let Microsoft fix it for no-cost or no headache that we don’t do it yourself.

To fix the unplayable disc error the first thing you do is have to take your Xbox apart, if your not sure how to do this, you can either visit the website below, the link is available at the end of this article, where you can learn how to properly take your Xbox apart or you can browse around online, go to YouTube, search Google and learn how to do it there. Once you figure out how to take your Xbox apart then we can get to solving the unplayable disc error, it’s not complicated, just a few simple adjustments.

At either your Xbox apart you’ll need to pull your DVD drive out, make sure to unplug it first, once you got your DVD drive out you going to have to take better part, it’s not complicated don’t be intimidated.

What happened is the motor runs out of lubricant, much like an automobile runs out oil and the motor seizes up, it’s not that severe but just enough to make the motor not run properly.

So once you got the dvd-drive apart you’ll have to pull the motor out, kick yourself acute tip or cotton swab and rub all the excess grease off the back of the motor, to be a little rod that connects the motor to the chassis of the DVD drive make sure to clean out of properly as well, then you can get yourself some WD 40, spray it on to your cotton swab gently rubbing around the motor so that it’s well lubed up.

All you have to after you’ve properly greased the motor out is just put your DVD drive back together an Xbox 360 back together, make sure not to put too much lubed on, then after me things back together: give it a try, nine times of 10 this is the problem and it will work to fix it.

How to Take your Xbox 360 Hard Drive apart!

For whatever reason your taking your Xbox 360 Hard drive apart, you’ll need to know how first right?

Well, this video should show you. If you’re not sure how to take your console apart to get to the hard drive, watch this video>>>>Dismantle Xbox 360

Things you’ll need:

T10 Screwdriver (Allen wrench)
T6 Screwdriver (Allen wrench)
Patience & Determination

The hard drive is a very small piece of equipment and takes allot of patience to work with it, the screws are tiny, the parts are tiny and all and all it just makes things that much more difficult to work with.

Note: You will void the warranty on the hard drive if you take it apart!

First step, remove the warranty sticker, pull out your size T6 Allen wrench and on screw all 4 screws on each side of the drive.

After you get the screws out, carefully, I mean carefully open with the flat side pointing down, because you don’t want the latching mechanism falling apart while taking apart. (Watch this video to see)

Now, pull out your size T10 Allen wrench and take out the next 4 screws holding down the heat guard, once you get the heat guard off (which is easy to do) disconnect the serial adapter (seen in video)

Be very careful when you get to this point, you don’t want all the miniature springs parts and plastic pieces following up all over the place.

All you need to do now, is just slide the actual hard drive out of its casing and that’s it!!!

The Xbox 360 Penny Fix Trick

I’m sure you’ve heard of this one were you place a few pennies on to the CPU in GPU processor is inside your Xbox 360, and it to supposedly tricks that computer chips in two functioning properly.

A. K. A (The Xbox 360 Penny Fix)…

In order to make this work, you’re going to have to strip down your Xbox 360, all the way down to the motherboard, if you’re not sure how to dismantle your Xbox please watch this video Dismantle Xbox 360.

Once you got your Xbox 360 apart and the motherboard rate in front of you (main circuit board) it’s time for the penny fix.

Things you’ll need to make it work.
1. A new role of pennies
2. Roll of black tape
3. Electrical Glue

So this is what you do, the steps to take.

Take 2 to 3 pennies; stack them on top of each other so it looks 2 to 3 pennies thick.
Take your electrical tape; wrap the pennies so there’s no copper showing at all (make four separate stacks of 3 stack pennies).

On each ram chip use a very small amount of hot glue to stick the stacked of wrapped penny’s to the ram (if you don’t have a hot glue gun, you can use women’s salon nail pads) they work good and don’t leave an ugly mess behind when you take the pennies back off later!

When putting your screws back in, if you used three pennies for your stack don’t screw in the black screws that hold the CPU in GPU – leave them off.

Scroll all the other screws in slow evenly finally tightening them, making sure that all the inputs match up correctly with the holes in the metal casings.

My Honest 3 Red Light Fix Review

So, you’ve been browsing around the web looking for the best Xbox 360 repair guide to help you fix your Xbox 360 because most likely there’s something seriously wrong and you’re not sure what it is.

This is my review on 3 Red Light Fix’s Xbox 360 repair manual…

I’ll start this off by saying I’m not a strong supporter of this particular repair guide, however it is an OK guide to help you fix the 3 red light error, the only problem is, it doesn’t cover more than 10% of other common Xbox 360 errors and is my only reasoning for not completely recommending it, some people would go as far as calling it a rip off or a scam because they could find on their own, using Google or Yahoo, what this particular guide sells you for $25 bucks.

I bought this guide 3 months ago when I was having problems with my console, along with the Xbox 360 Red Light Fix’s repair guide (there is a Big Difference between the two). I was able to compare them both at them time, because I had the $60 bucks to spend on’em, I wanted to make sure I fixed my console the best that I could, I’m sure you can understand that!

To be honest 3 Red Light Fix didn’t come nearly as close as to what Xbox 360 Red Light Fix had to offer.

Just like it says on the 3 Red Light Fix website, all they fix or teach you how to fix is the three red light error, now if your anything like me you could probably browse around YouTube and learn how to fix this problem yourself, saving $30 bucks, although that’s not really a smart move to make because I’d rather have a professional show me how to fix my Xbox 360 rather than watching some kid do it on YouTube. The fact that Xbox 360 Red Light Fix does cover 90% of all Xbox 360 errors and gives you solutions awesome videos, Step-By-Step hand-holding guidance, while 3 Red Light Fix doesn’t, is the reason why I don’t recommend getting this guide.

So please take my advice and don’t buy the 3 Red Light Fix repair guide.

So your Xbox 360 Freezes up huh?

This could be happening because of a few different reasons, let’s try to narrow it down and figure out why it’s happening.

When people say freezing it usually the other way around, (your Xbox is actually overheating.)
Depending on how many hours your Xbox 360 is on could be the main cause of your games freezing up, however that’s not always the case, it’s been suggested that there’s an actual failure with the GPU processor and why it freezes up.

The best way to get around your Xbox from freezing up is to install an extra cooling system, a cooling fan of some sort. It’s recommended, that you do install an extra cooling fan because the Xbox 360 is well known for overheating, plus when you install a new cooling fan or replace the original you’ll notice a big difference in sound, "allot quieter".

You can go to consoles shop and get yourself a whisper fan, there really affordable and easy to install and make a world of difference, I’m not guaranteeing you that it will fix the freezing problem but I can promise you, that you won’t have any more problems with overheating. Seeing how they’re both related it won’t hurt.

But if you’ve already been through that or tried some how to prevent your Xbox from overheating or maybe you have even gone as far as already installing a new cooling system, it’s most likely going to be a GPU processor problem, just like with anything else, things get old from wear and tear that’s normal.

You might not need the even to replace the GPU it could be just gunked up with gunk and all you need to do is clean it, you can watch a few videos found on this site, here’s a link to learn how to dismantle your Xbox 360.

Whatever the actual problem might be, you’ll find that it’s actually something very easy to fix, overheating and freezing are so common that it’s nothing to be too worried about.

How to Dismantle Your Xbox 360

In order to completely take apart your Xbox 360, you’re going to need a few tools.

Caution: if your Xbox is still covered under the warranty its recommended that you have Microsoft fix the problem for you at no cost, however if you’re not covered under the warranty and you have the money, “around $120 “then you can also have Microsoft fix the problem.

If you’d like to save money and do it yourself then this video will show you how to do it.

Tools needed to dismantle Xbox 360:

One flat head screwdriver
One regular screwdriver (Philips)
T8 screwdriver and T10 screwdriver
Roll of paper towels
Masking tape or cup (tin can) for screws

How to Remove Xbox 360 X-Clamp

Once you get to the point where your Xbox 360 is opened up and you can see the actual X-clamp and heatsinc, if you’re not sure to dismantle your Xbox 360, watch this video How to Dismantle Xbox 360.

All you’re going to need is a flat head screw driver and then gently pry on each corner of the clamp, prying up, one side at a time.

It comes apart very easily.

Note: Make sure to remove the right X-clamp, some people make the mistake of removing the wrong one, although it will not damage anything as long as you do it correctly, you’ll end up having to put it back together and starting all over.

So once you’ve got the X-clamp off, your set, all you need to do is finish the X-clamp repair, whether your doing it to fix the 3 red light error or 1 red light error. To see the tutorial showing you the entire Xbox 360 X-clamp fix click the link.

The first thing you’re going to need to do is to gather up your tools, to take apart your Xbox 360 console.

Notice: To properly install a new cooling fan which is considered a modification will void your warranty, as long as you’re aware of this and you decide to continue, we are in no way responsible.

Now let’s get to the hard part, taking apart your Xbox 360, in order to install a new cooling fan you’re going to have to take your Xbox 360 apart, there’s just no way around it.

You’ll need:

1. T10 screw driver
2. T8 screwdriver
3. Flat head screwdriver or knife
4. Masking tape or cup for your screws
5. New cooling Whisper fan which you can find at the console shop

If you’re not quite sure how to dismantle your Xbox 360, watch this video or a video of your preference found on YouTube or anywhere else you like.

Once you have your Xbox apart just removing the upper half of the shell where you can locate the fan unit.

Remove the plastic casing holding the fan unit in place

Unplug the fan

Pry the Chassis away from the fan in order to properly remove it

Pull the fan out and install the new whisper fan

After that you’re all done, that’s all there is to it, now all you need to do is put your Xbox 360 back together again!

How to Take apart Your Xbox 360 Controller

Whether you’re using a wireless controller or regular controller, you’ll need to either remove the battery pack or unplug it before you start the disassemble process.

OK, this little tutorial will properly teach you how to easily disassemble your Xbox 360 controller.

First, you’ll need a special little screwdriver, which is a size T8 torx screwdriver, you can find at any Home Depot or tool supply store.

To make things even faster, you can either pick up a drill size T8 bit or screwdriver size, however if you pick up a drill bit size T8, you can place it in your cordless drill or regular drill, and zip the screws right out in not time.

Make sure to remove the battery pack, there will be 7 screws that you’ll need to remove to properly take apart the Xbox 360 controller.

There will be one hidden screw located behind the bar code where you place the battery pack, the best way to remove it would be to just push the torx screwdriver in and easily remove it.

The other 6 screws are very easy to locate obviously because their visible.

Once you have all the screws removed make sure to either place them into a can, cup or I like to use masking tape and bunch them all into a piece of masking tape then label it. (That way I know you’re not going anywhere). Then, just pry the two sides of the Xbox 360 controller apart, if you have a hard time pulling the two sides apart, use a flat head screwdriver and slide in between each side little by little on each corner until you’ve got it apart.

Now you know, that’s all there is to taking apart or disassembling your Xbox 360 controller.

Xbox 360 Error E73 The Worst!

If it has to be the error code E73, you got the most irritating problem of all.
So many people, have the worst time of all trying to fix this error, E73 happens to be the worst!
Let’s first take a look at why it might have happened, and what causes it to happen.

Some say it’s something to do with power surges, for example:

Say there was a thunder storm and you’re playing your favorite game completely ignoring the fact that lightning was striking everywhere but on you and all the sudden your power goes out and comes back on just as fast as it went out, creating a power surge zipping right through the power cord of your Xbox 360 and frying the Ethernet port or motherboard.

That’s just one scenario!

The other, could be the Ethernet port just got twisted or burned out somehow, so the best thing you can do, is to take it to a professional but only after you’ve checked the necessary components first.

Like I said, the Xbox 360 error E73 is the worst one of all, because it’s really difficult to pinpoint the exact problem even after disassembling your console.

Make sure to check the AV cables, Power Supply cable, and any other extra attachments or accessories you may have, in fact remove all extra attachments or accessories, then try to power on your Xbox, if you still have no luck, it’s definitely something wrong with hardware failure.
If in fact it is hardware failure the best thing you can do, is to send it back to Microsoft if you’re covered under the warranty, remember not to take apart your Xbox 360 if your still covered under your warranty, if you’re not covered under the warranty however, the best thing you can do is to take it to a professional, where it could become quite pricey but much less than Microsoft will charge you.

You really don’t have too many choices when it comes to the Xbox 360 error E73, you can either fix the problem yourself by installing a newer Ethernet Port but that’s really taking a big chance so I don’t recommend it, sorry I could recommend anything other than having a professional fix it for you.

Xbox 360 Error E68 Explained

Got an irritating error on your Xbox 360 screen? Error E68

Xbox 360 error E68 is a common error and happens from time to time, but no worries, it can easily be fixed without making any major repairs.

There are a few steps you can take to get rid of the problem and put your console back into normal operating speed (get back to your games).

Note: If you have any extra accessories attached or installed somehow, like an extra fan unit, hard drive accessories or anything of that nature, you should first remove them, but make sure to completely power down your console, disconnect it from the power source, then remove and unnecessary attachments. After you’re done, turn on your Xbox 360 as you would normally.

If you still get the same error code… Let’s take a quick look at why it happens in the first place.

Error E68 is caused by a low voltage error, meaning that there’s not enough power to run your console or power it up enough so that you can play your games. Like I mentioned before, if you have an attachments, they could be the problem, taking to much power and not evenly disturbing it the way it’s supposed too.

Another reason is, some people have an extra fan unit attached to their Xbox 360’s to help keep it cool, because the Xbox 360 is well known for overheating very easily, especially after long hours of playing time.

You should also try plugging your console in using another electricity port located in your house somewhere, although this probably isn’t going to solve anything, it won’t hurt to try it.
If after all the techniques and recommendations above still fail, then there’s something internally wrong.

You’re most likely going to need to have a repair technician take a look at it, or have Microsoft take care of it for you, that is, if you’re still covered under your warranty. E66: DVD Drive Error: DVD model or version does not match the expected version, or the firmware version on the drive is older than the firmware version on the dashboard. Make sure the DVD drive is of the same version originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer.

E67: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it

E68: Voltage Error... This error means the Xbox 360 has insufficient power to function properly. Can be caused by an error in the hard drive or the fans sucking up too much power, it can also be caused if you have unnecessary accessories attached to the console like an external fan unit. Try removing all accessories first, also remove the hard drive and USB devices. If you have any case modifications you may want to check those out too!

E69: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it

E71: Dashboard update error, Check below in the "Console Reset Codes" for instructions. If that does not work there is no other solution and the console must be sent back to MS for repair, or you can use the Xbox 360 Red Light Fix repair guide for an alternative to Microsoft. Click here

E72: (N/A)

E73: General Hardware Failure: Ethernet port... this error is caused by a problem with the Ethernet port.

E74: There is high chance it's a scalar chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)

E76: This error deals with the Ethernet port's controller chip, a dead chip may not cause the error but removing the Ethernet controller chip does, it may also be caused by other Ethernet related problems.

E79: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.
According to tmbinc: E79 is the error code if xam.xex could not be started, i.e. probably a file system corruption.

0001: Power supply problem

0002: Network Interface problem

0003: Power problem could be the PSU could be the GPU/CPU, somehow the console isn't getting clean power from the power supply.

0010: There is a problem with the Southbridge Chip usually dealing with how it connects to the main board (cold solder joint/bridged solder joints)

0011: CPU over heating - If you are receiving this error after disassembling your console make sure to all 8 of the heat sink screws are tightened securely to the board/heat sink holes.

0012: GPU overheating

0013: RAM overheating

0020: (N/A)

0021: This can be caused by two completely different things either:
A. DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard based on how it connects to the DVD drive.
B. GPU error, generally caused by a poor connection to the mainboard (cold solder joints/bridged solder joints) See error 102 for more information

0022: CPU error, generally caused by a poor connection to the main board (cold solder joints/bridged solder joints). This can also be triggered by an error with the TSOP.

0023: (N/A)

0030: Problem with temperature control

0031: (N/A)

0102: Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM), this is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the main board.

There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced.

0103: GPU Error this is usually caused by bridged solder points where the GPU connects to the main board. see error 0102 for more detailed information

0110: Ram error, this is caused by a cold or bridged solder joint on one of the Ram chips.

0200: (N/A)

1000: Kernel can't be launched/signature in NAND Flash chip is broken! It could be possible after bad update. This might also be caused by a bad SATA cable.

1001: DVD Drive Error, either incorrect firmware or DVD Time out.

1002: DVD Drive Error, likely a firmware error, drive can eject, read, and write under windows but errors on console, replacing original firmware should fix issue.

1003: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it

1010: Hard Drive Error, Can be caused buy a corrupt or missing eProm. See also E68 above

1011: (N/A)

The last time I posted an add on Craigslist.org for Xbox 360 repair, I did it in multiple states and cities, well not all of them but the big cities, you wouldn’t believe the amount of replies I got. It took me all day long just to go through half of’em. My point is just to prove to you, that there is no shortage with demand, because there is plenty of people out there wanting some else to fix their Xbox 360’s for them.

I also placed an add, wanting to buy broken Xbox 360 consoles and that also, blew up my email box beyond belief, with more messages then I could possibly handle.

Get a New Email Address First:

(Note:) Before you make your ads on Craigslist, make sure to get a new email address suing Google mail or Gmail, it's easy free and anyone can do it.

After you learn how to play around with Craigslist (Manipulate it), what you need to do next, is get yourself a business size post office box (P.O Box) because you don’t necessarily want people having your home address plus it’s just more professional that way, then when you start communicating with people about the repair or sale of an Xbox 360, you can give them your new business P.O Box number to have them send it too.

I’ve also found other great places online that will “announce to the world”, you want to fix Broken Xbox 360’s to make money. There are a ton of classified websites out there… all which are completely free to use and allow you to place ads anywhere in the world. Believe me; you’ll end up getting consoles from everywhere, United Kingdom, Britain, Ireland, Scotland, United States, California, Texas, Hawaii, Maine, Canada, Africa, (yeah people in Africa need their Xbox 360’s fixed too), Italy, Mexico, France, China and anywhere else you can think off, the sky’s the limit here, there’s Xbox 360’s everywhere. Remember, Microsoft stated they sold more than 19 million consoles worldwide in April of 2008 (this year), more than 20% of those consoles are broken, so there’s no shortage!

Take Advantage of Myspace & Other Social Sites to Make More Money:

You can also use MySpace and other social gathering websites online to get your presence known, it’s not difficult that’s for sure, you can even go as far as making your own blog, but it’s not necessary.

How to Get Paid Professionally:

When it comes to getting paid, you’ve got two options when you start out, you can get yourself a PayPal account, that way you can except payments for the actual Xbox 360 repair, I prefer payment up front, so before they send the Xbox to me, I ask them to send the money first, it’s more professional that way, the only downfall is, not everyone has a PayPal account.
So, your next option is to use the old fashion C.O.D method (Cash on Delivery).

You can use these 2 payment options until you can something set up with accepting credit cards and checks, you won’t have a problem finding a company to do that for you, there’s an abundance of credit card processing companies out there.

That’s all there is to it...

You find the people that have the broken Xbox 360’s or need repair by using various websites/techniques.
You accept payment using PayPal or C.O.D, that’s how I’ve been doing it and it’s been working fine.

You can thank Microsoft for this amazing opportunity, if it weren’t for their sloppy, carelessness attitude towards producing excellent products LOL! (Xbox 360), then we wouldn’t be able to make tons of money fixing Xbox 360 consoles. Please, don’t get me wrong here either, the Xbox 360 is an incredible machine and without it, life would be that much more dull (un enjoyable) they are the industry leaders for the gaming business and will bring us many more great products in the future, that we will love just as much, but for now, they made a big boo boo, sort a speak, when it came too launching the Xbox 360, before working all the bugs out first. But for that reason only, we can take advantage of this opportunity to the fullest.

Did you know, you can actually download any Xbox 360 game you want, yes you can, it is possible, but like with anything else, there are a few stipulations that go with it. For one, you’re going to need to modify your Xbox 360 first, so it can play burned games, and the best part about modifying your console is, you can play any video game you want it, Nintendo games, PlayStation games, whatever. Pretty much download anything you want, burn it to a disk and be playing it 3o minutes later.

Now for the painful news.

Yeah, you have to mod your Xbox 360 in order to make it work, now if you don’t know how to do this, I don’t suggest you go ripping apart your Xbox trying to figure it out, it’s worth paying the $40-$50 to have a professional do it for you.

Now for more bad news, once you mod you’re Xbox 360, you won’t be able to logon to Xbox live, once there computer systems recognize your console has been modified, they will ban it for life.
Each Xbox 360 has its own serial and computer number, all Microsoft or Xbox live has to do is just kick you out of the system. So, before you go modifying your console, I thought you should know the facts first.

Alright, the Scotch tap is there to help you when your putting the screws back though the heatsink, so you can get the nuts on the backside of them, without doing it one at a time.

You can get the thermal paste at any computer store and you obviously know where to get the rest of the stuff.

As far as the drilling goes, your don't necessarily need to drill wholes, but some people prefer it, to tighten the heatsink up that much more by connecting it to the actual shell of the console.

Need Xbox 360 Repair? Tough Luck, Microsoft Only Repairs What They Want Warranty or Not

Xbox 360 Unplayable Disc Error

Have you seen this error yet lol! Of course you have, that’s why you’re reading this posts right?

I’m going to briefly go over what you can do to fix this problem, to start off, you’re going to need to manually take your console apart, make sure to label every single piece all the way down to the screws, so you know exactly where each one goes when putting it back together, I find it much easier that way, instead of trying to remember everything.

To let you know, there’s just no way around it, you have to dismantle your console to fix this problem, you could of course hire someone to do it for you, or if your still covered under the warranty, let Microsoft fix it, if not get this Xbox 360 repair guide, you can bet it’s going to go over the steps one heck of allot better than I am in this article.

Ok, let’s get to the problem.

Unplayable Disc Error: After you have your console apart or at least to the point where you can see the DVD drive, the next step to actually take the disc drive cover off, after that, you’re going to need to completely remove all the screws that are holding the disc drive in place. Make sure to unplug the two cords on the back of drive before pulling it out.

Next: Once you have removed the disc drive from the console, flip it over and remove the two screws located on the back side of the disc drive, (also, make sure when you flip it over, not to scratch the lens).

Once you got that finished, the next step is to remove the circular rotor (motor) there will be 3 small screws, you’ll need a very small Allen (1.5 mm) wrench to remove them, after that, just gently push the lens upwards out of the way ,then pull the motor out. Once you’ve got the motor out, you can pull off the motor wheel (black round wheel), there will be a little rod, prong thing, and this is exactly what’s causing your Xbox 360 to have the unplayable disc error, so what you need to do, once you get to this point, is to just clean off all the excess grease on the rod that’s attached to the motor wheel, you can use rubbing alcohol, then get some lubricant (W-D 40) spay it on the part (the wheel) and gently place it back onto the motor and that’s it, all you need to do after that is put your Xbox 360 back together.

Hopefully you took my advice in the beginning and labeled everything first, so you don’t have to remember how to put it back together.

How the Unplayable Disc Error Happened:
What happens overtime, is excess grease builds up the motor wheel causing it to jam up and not spin like it’s supposed to, so by doing this repair technique, it should defiantly fix the problem.

Xbox 360 X Clamp Fix

Ahhh...The most popular repair method preferred by many Xbox 360 owners worldwide, the X-clamp fix.

So, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of this article and show you exactly what you’re going to need and do to get the job done.

X Clamp Step 1:

You’re going to want to completely take your console apart, now this may seem a bit complicated or intimidating at first, but it’s not as half as difficult as you might think.

There’s allot to explain with taking apart your Xbox 360, so I’ll just go over the basic how to’s of what you have to do. But, first things first, be extremely careful when taking your console apart, make sure to separate each part and you can either label or number your parts in sequence, so when you’re putting things back together, it won’t seem like to much to remember and also find a few household tools, you’ll need a pair of basic pliers, both Philips screwdriver and flat head screw driver and a set of spring washers mini screw kit,(cost about $2.00 bucks at any hardware store), that’s about it, you can browse around different videos on YouTube or other video sharing sites and find all kinds of hooligans taking apart their consoles to give you a good idea of how to do it.

X Clamp Step 2: Taking the original x clamp and heat sink of the main circuit board.

When you finally get to the point where you can lift the main circuit board away from the console’s shell, what you’re going to want to do is gently flip it over, grabbing your regular flat head screwdriver, easily prying each end of the x clamp off until all 4 ends are loose. Then flip the circuit board over and pull the heat sink off, next, untwist the screws in the heat sink.

X Clamp Step 3:
Take the washers and place them on your screws then put them in the heat sink holes with the tip on the bottom of the circuit board so you can screw them in, you can either place some sort of masking tape to temporarily hold them in place while you flip the board back over to put the heat sink back into position, then gently screwing each screw 2 turns a piece, do not tighten each screw individually, rotate each screw until all 4 are securely fashioned.

Looking through various different websites, I’ve come to the conclusion that this problems is too just as common as the 3 red light error that almost 70% of all Xbox 360 owners run into.

What you can do to fix the problem is rather simple and no, do not go taking your Xbox 360 apart just yet, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing, it may seem simple watching someone doing it on YouTube, but more than likely their not always going to show you step by step and you’ll inevitably end up getting lost along the way sort a speak ending up with extra parts like you did when you were kid taking apart your toys and trying to put them back together.

So, the first thing you can consider where the problem actually originates, is the GPU processor (Graphics Processing Unit) the funny thing is, allot of people think they can actually make a difference or control the GPU (trick it) into working again by placing a small magnet or any other type of small item on it. 4. If the AV cable is correctly connected but the four red lights are still flashing, substitute a different AV cable if you have one available.

Only a short while ago, the infamous Microsoft company released their upgraded version of the Xbox and called it the Xbox 360, along with its super graphics and killer network connections that connected players from around the world, it also came with a series of problems as well.
